DIY Headband

Monday, August 6, 2012

One of the amazing blogs I follow is Kelly Murray.  She had this tutorial on how to make this 15 min headband out of an old T-Shirt.  I tried it one evening and I love it! It was so simple and her directions are so easy to follow.  http://www.kellimurray.com/category/diyese/

Here is the one I made, just a little bit smaller in each dimension.

And my beautiful model loves it... super comfortable and doesn't leave a mark.

If you REALLY knew me

If you REALLY knew me…

You would know that I struggle with fear
Fear of having regret
Fear of not being a good enough parent to my kids
Fear of them getting sucked into worldly ideas that they are too good
or too smart to believe in God
Fear of them not knowing the Lord
Fear of dealth
Fear of not being able to protect them at all times
Fear of them getting hurt
Fear of the unknown

If you REALLY knew me…

You would know that I have wanted to quit and be a stay at home mom since Rhone was born
And that I pray every night and ask God to make that happen for me
However... I am scared to quit because I am really good at what I do
And when you feel like your really good at something, it is hard to give it up
I feel that because of my personality and my struggle with health, I am able to be more simpathetic toward people in need of upthifting
And if I quit, I won't be there for someone else who needs it
However, working in an environment that reminds you to live each day to the fullest, reminds me that my kids are what is most important to me, and that I need to spend as much time with them as I possibly can, because you never know what tomorrow brings

If you REALLY knew me…

You would know that I am not good at being a friend.

I want to be everything to my friends, but end up falling short because I choose my family over them

I am learning to balance that

You would know that I am a planner

I have tried to plan every step in my life, and have succeeded 1/2 the time

God just keeps reminding me that he's in control, and I'm ok with that

If you REALLY knew me…
You would know that I am a home body

You would know that I like to go out... but I like staying home more

You would know that I love to clean & I love a clean home

You would know that clean sheet night + shower night is one of my favorite nights

You would know that I shower at night

I can't remember the last time I showered in the morning

I am starting to shower early evening with Rhone... time saving trick

If you REALLY knew me…

You would know that I don't like cooking

You would know that I don't necessarily like to do dishes, but I love the feeling when they're done

You would know that I have a place in my house for everything

If it's not labeled, just ask

You would know that I get seriously stressed out if my home is messy

And with 2 kids and KC and Wabash, it's impossible

You would know that I cringe every time someone walks into my house with shoes on

And this is why I love sandals

If you REALLY knew me…

You would know that I love to shop

I love the feeling of something new to wear

You would know that I am taking up 3 of the 5 closets in this house

If you REALLY knew me…

You would know that I pray everyday for my children's salvation

You would know that I pray everyday for KC

You would know that I pray everyday for my childrens health

You would know that I love that I am becoming more comfortable with writing this blog, knowing that people will eventually read it.

If you REALLY knew me…
You would know that I have a tattoo on my left wrist that says "Faith"

I got white ink, so that it would not be noticable to others
and would be a reminder to just me
However... white ink does not stay, it bleeds and looks like a mess years later
I plan on getting it re-done after breastfeeding next year

If you REALLY knew me…

You would know that I am scared that people will judge

But I also love that I am beginning to not care.

You would know that I am trying to work on all of these things

I trust God will help

I trust that he is in control

Can't wait for winter!

So I've been thinking a lot about my new amazing Burberry coat since it's been raining here so much.

The only problem is its too hot.  So naturally it still sits in my closet, waiting.  My amazingly sister has a talent for finding beautiful clothes at Last Chance.  A store of high quality clothing for less!

She gave this to me for my 30th birthday when I 7 months pregnant.

Summer Days

Summer in Arizona

It's Hot!! I have lived here my whole life, minus 2 yrs and I never get used to this heat.  Tucson is also about 5-10 degrees cooler than Phoenix, and I still feel like I'm melting.  To get through the summer, we go out side before 10 am and after 5 am.  We swim a lot, eat popsicles and ice cream.  Our new amazing trick is sticking a sprinkler under the trampoline. Pics to come.

If you know Rhone, you know he isn't too found of deserts.  It's weird.  I have been really working on it this summer well because I just feel that he's missing out.  Don't get me wrong, I want him to be super healthy and I think his lack of interest in deserts is because I have held off any sugar up until a couple months ago.  But it really gets to me, when I'm super excited to give Rhone ice cream (my favorite food) and he doesn't touch it.  Not only that, he screams Ewww.  So here are the first pics of my little guy finally enjoying for the first time 2 of my favorite Summer treats.

Big Boy Bed

So I thought I would post the making of Rhone's Big Boy Bed.

We did this back in January. I basically told my my wonderfully talented husband what I had in mind and he built the whole thing.  This bed is designed so that he can use it as a toddler and then when he's older we can flip it and it becomes a loft bed.

Trampoline in Monsoon season

Summer in AZ with a toddler & newborn

If you don't know Rhone well, let me just tell you that he is a huge ball of energy. To be completly honest, it's been hard.  Its hard to be up and have enough energy to entertain him after a night of no sleep with Lachlyn.  So... we decided to get a energy extractor.  The Trampoline.  Greatest purchase we have made this year!  He loves, it.  You just put him in there and he jumps and jumps till he is so tired he can barely walk.
He calls it the 'fun tent'.

When it's hot... we just put a sprinkler underneath, add some balls and well it is a fun tent.

Monsoon Season in Tucson is the Best!!

One of my favorite times of year, it Monsoon season.  Partly because the summer here is sooo hot, that it makes me feel like I am drying, melting away.  Around July-August the storms start rolling in.  Not to mention the smell of 'Desert Rain'.  It is amazing.  There is nothing else like it, and it just makes me smile every time.  This year we have been blessed with lots of rain.  Just this past week, it has rained 5 days out of the week!  Because it is so rare, I and my family instantly want to be outside playing in the rain.

The joy on Rhone's face, and his amazing curiosity warms my heart.
