6 Weeks Later

So it's been 6 weeks since Lachlyn was born!  I can't believe it, it is going to fast.  I apologize about not posting.  It's been a little crazy around here, and well I'm still getting used to this whole blog thing.

So much has happened in the last 6 weeks.  First of all I just want to tell my baby Lachlyn that I am so in love with you!! You are beautiful in every way.  You have made our little family so complete and I thank God every day for you.  Rhone has been amazing since you were born.  He is such a little helper.  He loves to get a blanket or help me sing you to sleep.  He loves you!

Favorite things about having a girl:

I love getting Lach dressed! I admit I might change your outfit a couple times a day.

I love that you have hair

I love seeing myself in your face

I am sorry but somewhat excited that you have my ears, or the Cameron ears

I love that you have a calm spirit already. You are timid and can be easily distracted or upset if Rhone is screaming next to you.

This is my favorite picture of you so far!! Your smile just melts my heart every time I look at it.

Rhone

I have prayed my entire life for you.  On April 28th, God answered my prayers for a healthy baby that your KC and I can call our own.  I have loved you since conception, but I feel in love with you when I saw you for the very first time.  I cried and cried when you were born, because I was so happy.  You were a hard baby.  You liked to eat, and by that I mean you breastfeed for about an hour or so every 2-3 hours.  I cried almost every time because I was in so much pain.  My skin did not like it.  But I loved you, I loved the time we spent together, just you and I.  You brought so much joy to us.

When I went back to work, I cried at the thought of leaving you.  It was the hardest thing I have ever done.  I thought about you every second while at work, and I ran home the minute I got out of work.  For the next 2 years before your sister came, you were the center of KC and I world.  All of our friends who had kids, would take them to their Grandpa & Grandma’s house to get a night or two away from kids.  We never did that.  I couldn’t bare the thought of not having you with me when I wasn’t at work.  If I was a stay at home mom, it might have been different.  But because I wasn’t, I vowed to spend every second with you and your dad when I was off of work.  I have watched every first.  I have cheered you on every step of your life.

We had so much fun, we took you to the zoo almost every weekend when the weather was nice, we went out to eat, traveled, and played at many different parks.  I love watching you grow.  I love watching you enjoy life.  Your dad and I have grown so much since you were born.  You taught us to give, to be patient, to love, and to parent.  We have gone through so much self discovery.  We have changed, and I can’t imagine life any other way.

I pray that I will be the best mom for you.  I will try my best.  I will give you my all.  I promise to love you and teach you of God’s love.  I pray every day that you will know God, that you will love him.

2 years later on June 7th, your sister came into this world.  I was nervous while pregnant with her because I honestly didn’t think I had enough love to give her.  You and your dad had all the love I could possibly give.  However, I was wrong.  The same thing happened.  The moment I meet Lachlyn, I feel in love again.  I loved her just as much as I love you.  We went from a family of 3 to 4. It was perfect! We were so blessed.  God had blessed all of us.

You are my life, you give me so much joy and I thank God for that every day.

Our new Table

Wednesday, June 27, 2012

So when my mom came out to help us when Lachlyn was born, she prompted us to think about getting a new table.  We have had many discussions about a new table ever since Rhone climbed the bar height table stool and it fell over and he hit his head on the tile.  A bar height table just wasn't kid friendly.  So my mom started looking up tables on craigslist and we just weren't finding anything quite right.  Until we found this fixer-upper 50's style table.  It came with 10 chairs, and 3 leaves.  It was cheap but needed a lot of love.
So... KC did all the repairs to make sure it was sturdy, and I cleaned and scrubbed 50+ years of grim off that table and then reupholstered the chairs.  Now we just love this table.  Now we can actually sit down and have friends and family over to eat.
And best part... Rhone can get up on the chair all by himself.

Lachlyn

On June 7th, 2012 you Lachlyn Charley Fletcher were born at 10:50pm.  It was an amazing day.
Here’s your story.

On June 7th I woke up that morning and prayed a long prayer to God.  I asked him that today would be the day.  I had prayed that prayer many times the previous 2 weeks.  I was ready to have you.  The entire pregnancy I thought June 7th was your due date.  Well later that day I found out, my due date was actually June 6th, and you were officially late by one day. ( Your brother Rhone was also exactly 1 day late from his due date).

That morning around 9am, I started getting pains in my lower abdomen.  They came and went, and I wasn’t sure if they were contractions or not.  From what I had remembered with Rhone, contractions were a tightening of the entire belly.  This was not happening. It was only in the bottom of my belly.  So I thought maybe it was gas pains.  That day I had an appointment with Dr. Hutchinson to get checked at 12:30.  I was nervous to find out if I had made any progress, because I really wanted to have you today.  I had scheduled and induction the next day Friday June 8th.  I wanted so badly to go into labor naturally that I kept praying for today to be the day.

So your dad and I went to the Dr. appointment and I mentioned my pains.  She told be it was probably my ligaments being stretched and not contractions.  I was about 4 cm dilated which was little progress.  We had a ultrasound done, and got to see you via ultrasound around 1pm.  The Dr. measured you at being about 7lbs 5 oz.  I left the Dr. office sad, I was bummed because I was coming to the realization that you were not going to come out on your own that day.  So we went to LaSalsa to get lunch.  The pains kept getting worse.  I could barely stand in the restaurant.  I was confused as to why ligament stretching would hurt so bad.  Then while standing there hunched over with pain, I had peace about me.  I knew I was in early labor.  I was having contractions.  They had to be.  We started timing them.  These pains happened every 4 mins for about 30 secs long.

At home, with your dad and Grandma Chris I started walking with Rhone in circles around our house.  We did lap after lap.  I timed all my contractions and Rhone kept asking “What’s wrong momma? Hurt?”  It was a great experience.  The pain was manageable.  I was just so relieved that I didn’t have to get induced and that God had answered my prayer.  So about 5:30pm, your dad and I decided it was time to go to the hospital.  We packed our bags and drove to St. Joseph’s Hospital.

When we checked in to triage, the contractions were about 3 mins apart.  They now were hurting soooo bad; I couldn’t talk or walk through them.  I was emitted and was transferred into our delivery room.  As the nurses worked to get me into the computer system, and get me hooked up to an IV.  I was in so much pain, I thought I was going to die.  Your dad, my love stood there by my side the entire time.  He got me through all the pain.  He cheered me on, and helped me try to go through this as long as I could with out an epidural.  I made it to about 8pm, 7cm dilated when I screamed for the epidural.  I couldn’t take it anymore.  I was having horrible back labor, and just wanted to relax and enjoy the delivery.  So finally when the anesthesiologist got there, he put in the epidural, and because I have scoliosis, the epidural only numbed my right side.  He told me the curve of my spine made the needle go in the right side only.  So there I was laying down, my right side completely numb, my left side completely in pain.  I was rolled up onto my left side in hopes that the medication would drain to my left.  It worked for the most part.  Eventually I felt little pain in my left.  I was happy.  I could finally relax.  I was exhausted.  I laid there with KC’s hand in mine and waited in anticipation for your arrival.

Finally about 10:30pm, Dr. Hutchinson came in to break my water.  She came in and did so and then asked me to push, just to see if you were ready to come out.  Well you were.  It happened so fast.  One minute I was laying there wondering if you were going to come out before midnight, and then all of a sudden, 5 nurses were there, getting ready for me to push you out.  I held your dad’s hand and starred into his eyes, and started pushing.  I pushed for 2 contractions.  We waited for the next contraction and finally on the 3rd push your little head came out.  You had hair! Lots of hair! My Dr. looked at me and said “Do you want to grab her?” I was confused at this for a second, but instinctively I grabbed under your arms and pulled you out.  It was the most wonderful experience.  I put you on my chest, and cried.  We had done it.  You were here.  And I looked at KC and we fell in love.  I cried tears of joy and just held you there as long as I could.

You were perfect. 7lbs, 14.5 oz.  A lot bigger than the ultrasound had predicted just hours before.  You were 19.5 in long.  We just couldn’t believe you had dark hair.  Rhone was completely bald, so it was surprising to us.  Your Grandma Burdett, was at home watching Rhone who was fast asleep.  We were so thankful of her to do this and miss your birth, so that we felt comfortable leaving Rhone while at the hospital.  Grandma Michele and Papa Tony came to the hospital to meet you just hours after you were born.  KC and I couldn’t believe how truly beautiful you were, and how much we instantly loved you.  We were now a family of 4 and our prayers were answered.

With Love,

Mamma

10 Days Left

Monday, May 28, 2012

Less than 2 weeks left till we get to meet our little Lachlyn.  I can not wait! These 9 months have been such a blessing.  The excitement of finding out we were finally pregnant with you, sickness I felt for the first 3 months, the wonderfully awesome 2nd trimester and the hard 3 trimester has finally come to an end and more than ever I can not wait to hold you Lachlyn in my arms and love on you.

These last 3 weeks of my pregnancy has been hard for me.  My legs and hands swell up so much that I can barely walk or move my fingers.  My right hand has really been a challenge.  Because of the swelling I have carpal tunnel syndrome, which make my hand have sharp pains, numbness in my finger tips, and pin prickles all over.  My Dr. says it should go away after I deliver.

We have been busy redecorating Lachlyn's room/ KC's office space for about a month or so.  Just the other day we registered for everything we needed for our new baby.  Diapers, creams, soaps, hamper, sheets, breast feeding supply's, a swing, a bouncer, humidifier, and much more.  We registered at Target and Babies r Us so that when we closed out our registry we could get 10% off everything.  KC calculated and researched to make sure we were getting the best deal at each store.  So after work we went to each store and bought everything on our list!  It was so exciting, it made it real for me that we were going to have another child soon.  Opening everything, putting it in it's place in Lachlyn's room was and is one of my favorite things to do.  The preparation it takes, the planning, the decorating gives me peace, happiness, and excitement for little Lachlyn.

Since all the changes and purchases, I think Rhone has started to realize that something is coming.  We tell me all the time about his baby sister.  At first he didn't get it.  We would say 'baby' and he would say 'where?' I would point to my belly, and he would lift his shirt up and point to his.  But over the past month, he has changed.  He now points to my belly and says baby, and when he walks in our new nursery he calls it baby's room.  He is going to be the sweetest older brother any girl could have.  His love for KC and I is amazing and I can't wait to see him love Lachlyn.

You know how one of the signs for labor is 'nesting'.  Well that's quite a confusing consept for someone like me.  I am a clean freak.  Especially if I know something is happening soon.  Whether it be a weekend, going on vacation, coming back from vacation, or simply needing to relax.  I use cleaning and having a clean house as therapy in a way.  Our house for some reason gets sooo messy so quickly.  I'm talking in hours, all the work of cleaning can go away.  So when I spend night after night cleaning, doing all the laundry, coming up with new projects, it's hard to know if it's just me, my personality or am I 'nesting'  It is messing with my mind.  I want everything to be perfect before labor, so I have cleaned, done laundry, and showered almost every day for the past week.  And I still have potentially 10 more days left!! I don't know if I can withstand that pressure.  So I am going to start tomorrow focusing on spending quality time with Rhone and KC instead and when the time actually comes, I will happy and relaxed.

As excited as KC and I are about Lachlyn, I personally am scared to death to leave Rhone for 2 days.  We have a plan, I know KC will be able to see him more, and he will be able to come to the hospital as much as he can, but... it's still hard to think about me not being there when he wakes up, when he eats lunch, putting him to bed.  It breaks my heart.  I have such a soft soul for Rhone that I just crave to be around him.  I get jealous when I'm not, and I cry when I think about how much I love him.  Rhone is 2 years old now, and we have not left him for more than one night with someone else.  And the one night that we did leave him... I put him down at Grandmas, and was there when he woke up the next morning.  I know some people would say that isn't healthy, and that we should let him go a little more often, but I disagree.  I love that I am miserable with out him, I love that when KC and I do go on a date, we both think of him the entire time.  I am enjoying every minute I can with Rhone, because you know time fly's by.  I enjoy him, and I enjoy being home with my family so much more than going out.

With all that said, and being completely honest with myself, I don't know if I have enough Love to give to another child.  The love I feel for KC and Rhone is so great that I feel I give it all to them.  Do I have enough for Lachlyn too?  In my heart, when I really think about it I know I do.  I know that once I see her, once I hold her, once I kiss her, my Love with grow.  That is what happened when I meet KC and Rhone, so I know that will happen when I meet Lachlyn.  God I feel has given me this as a blessing.  The gift of Love.  I feel it everyday and thank God everyday for all the blessings he has given me.  I am excited to see his new gift to us, his new blessing in our family.

I am ready, and patiently waiting for our new little girl.
